The Center of Disease Control recognizes intimate partner abuse as a public health problem. In response to this health issue, Rhode Island along with 13 other states were given grants to coordinate community responses toward preventing relationship violence.
The Blackstone Valley Advocacy Center, Elizabeth Buffum Chace Center, Women’s Center of RI and the Women’s Resource Center of Newport and Bristol Counties are the four RI agencies that were the recipients of the DELTA grant. An organizer from each agency has formed a community partnership team in their respective areas to work collectively on preventing intimate partner violence and abuse through the use of primary prevention methods
